Daisy Friedman's HOW TO BE A SLUT WITHOUT DYING
HOW TO BE A SLUT WITHOUT DYING is an autobiographical short film that explores the lengths disabled people take to be desired and the consequences of that desire. As a multi-organ transplant recipient, Daisy creates work that explores the intersections of tradition, intimacy, embodiment, and disability. HOW TO BE A SLUT WITHOUT DYING comes from an intimate experience in Daisy’s own life. The film is a call for change, not only about the deep-rooted ableism within the medical system, but about the painful lengths disabled people often go to to be seen as desirable.
Daisy Friedman is a 2025 Sundance & SXSW alumna for her short film UNHOLY (pw: Unholy2024) starring Tony winner Danny Burstein. Her debut film AS YOU ARE also had a robust festival run and won a US Narrative Short Grand Jury Special Mention at Outfest. Her history as a multi-organ transplant recipient has drawn her to create work that centers on the intersections of tradition, intimacy, embodiment, and disability.
