Bread & Roses: EVERYBODY EATS
Produced by Bread & Roses Collaborative, Everybody Eats is a six-part docuseries, which takes you on a cross-country road trip to meet folks who have always had to build systems of care and economy outside of dominant societal structures. Musicians are seeking out conversations with farmers, food service workers, farm workers, and advocates who are coming together to find ways to thrive. We show defiant, joyful action rooted in love for our neighbors and humanity. We illustrate how community often steps in to solve the problems our elected officials fail to address.
Have you ever had a piece of bread that changed your life? Remember those backyard parties that you wished would never end? Food and music are sustenance for weary souls; they also remind us that life is best experienced in community. They inspire us to speak love to each other and remind us to celebrate being alive.
We must consider ourselves co-creators of the world we want to live in. Now is the time to remember our humanity through the quiet intimacy of relationships. We have to share the stories that challenge the ones we have accepted to be true. We aren’t as limited as we tell ourselves we are; the world we want already exists. Our road trip will be a road map out of here.
As we face this era of uncertainty, fear, and division, Everybody Eats offers another path. If we can find shared truth, we can begin to uproot what ails us. If we can humble ourselves, we can bear witness to the beauty of being human, even and especially in these moments that ask us to turn away.
