Announcing STAY RIGHTEOUSLY UNMANAGEABLE: Virtual Open Office Skill Share and Career Coaching

This November and December, the Unmanageable team is opening our virtual doors to artists who are doing social change work in the South. If you’re dreaming up a large-scale, mission-driven project or looking for guidance on your next career move, this space is for you.

We will kick things off on Tuesday, November 10th with open-format career coaching led by Octavia Yearwood, our Special Projects Director. Bring your biggest questions: How do I know my worth? What does strategic planning look like for an artist? How do I turn this vision into something real?

Octavia is a New York-born conceptual artist, producer, and award-winning author with over 20 years of experience in education and working with institutions, including the Institute of Contemporary Art and the Bass Museum. Her docuseries on black trans women, “The Tranz Form” was picked up by AppleTV and OUTtv. She has spent her career living by her motto: “Create dope things while elevating unheard voices.” 💛

On Tuesday, November 17th, UNMGMT Co-Founder Celine Thackston, is excited to talk about fundraising. Whether you’re writing your first grant, approaching a donor for the first time, or trying to put into words why your project matters, come with your questions about raising money and building a strong case for support.

Celine brings more than 15 years of fundraising experience and has raised around $35 million for artists and nonprofits over her career. She has served as a grant reviewer for funders like the NEA, South Arts, and the Tennessee Arts Commission. With Unmanageable, she has helped to raise more than $5M for independent artists in the South.

On Tuesday, November 24th, UNMGMT Co-Founder Carissa Stolting, will answer your questions about artist management and event production. How do you find the right manager? How do you move through the music industry with care and integrity? How do you build and produce events that truly mean something to your community?

Carissa has spent nearly two decades in the music industry. She founded the management company Left Bank Artists, served as Managing Director of Big Ears Festival, and got her start at AC Entertainment. She has produced festivals and tours while guiding artists through every stage of their careers, and she brings deep empathy and expertise to every conversation.

Spots are limited, sign-up to day. And stay tuned, more virtual sessions are coming in December!
